Abstract: This work investigates a novel technique of control performance assessment (CPA). The CPA activity must combine opposing goals. Tuning of any considered loop is a sort of compromise between controller speed and its accuracy. Expected balance combining these contradictory issues depends on the requirements, process technological limitations and even human control engineer skills. Two fundamental measures of overshoot and settling time fit ideally into that framework. This research follows that path, but using other, alternative tools uncommon in control engineering, but popular in other research areas: L-moments, tail indexes, an estimator of the ARFIMA filter fractional order and other persistence measures. Validation of the proposed methodology is compared with popular integral KPIs: means square and mean absolute values of a control error signal.

报告学者简介:Paweł D. Domański was born in 1967 in Warsaw, Poland. He received the M.S. degree in 1991, the Ph.D. degree in 1996 and the D.Sc. degree in 2018, all in control engineering, from the Warsaw University of Technology. Since 1991 he has been working in the Institute of Control and Computational Engineering, Warsaw University of Technology. Besides scientific research, he has participated in dozens of industrial implementations of Advanced Process Control (APC) and optimization in power and chemical industries. He is the (co-)author of four books and more than 150 publications. His main research interest is in industrial APC applications, control performance assessment and optimization. Currently, his research interest is shifting toward multi-agent modeling in the supply chain management environment.
